Gov. Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed this commitment during a meeting with members of the Cross Creek Golf Club at his office in Alagbaka, Akure, on Tuesday.
Aiyedatiwa expressed his gratitude to the team of golfers for their visit. He assured them that the government would continue to create an enabling environment and prioritize the well-being of the people, thus ensuring the safety and peace necessary for residents and visitors alike to engage in recreational activities such as golfing. The governor pledged to provide the necessary support to the club to facilitate its endeavors.
Earlier in his welcome address, Elder Isaac Shedowo, Captain of the club, and leader of the delegation, extended congratulations to the governor on his victory in the just concluded APC primary election in the state.
He commended the governor for his efforts in promoting comprehensive development across the state, particularly in the sports sector.
Shedowo also highlighted the potential of golf resorts to attract tourism to Ondo State and invited the governor to the inaugural captain’s tournament.
He said during the tournament, the governor would be honored as the grand patron of the club, and a hole would be named after him permanently at the golf resort.
Additionally, Shedowo informed the governor about the club’s plan to establish an academy to foster the development of golf within the state.
He mentioned that training had already commenced at the golf resort, with the aim of producing talented golfers comparable to the likes of Tiger Woods.
