I HAVE ACCEPTED MY FATE – DETHRONED EMIR BREAKS SILENCE
By The NewsPostage

According to Punch, on Saturday, there was a substantial security presence at Gidan Sarki Nasarawa, the residence of the dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero. The security forces included policemen, soldiers, and officials from the Department of State Services. Additionally, soldiers were stationed at the home of the current Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II, the Kano State Government House, and other strategic locations throughout the metropolis. This was part of an effort to bolster security amidst the ongoing power struggle in the emirate.
Sanusi, who was dethroned in 2020, became the focal point of a heated power conflict. His reinstatement was realized on Friday, May 24, 2024, when the House of Assembly repealed a law signed by the former governor on December 5, 2019. However, this reinstatement increased tensions in the state as the deposed Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, who had been out of public view since his deposition on Thursday, returned to Kano on Saturday.
Reacting to this development, a former Senator, Ben Murray Bruce, took to his X handle to say until the court decides who the legitimate Emir of Kano is, he’s of the opinion that every courtesy that is entitled to an Emir should be extended to both parties, and peace should be maintained as it is wrong to demonize anyone giving respectful treatment to Emir Adimu Ado Bayero or Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.
Ben Murray Bruce went on to say if the court decides, the government and the people abide as a judge has judicial powers irrespective of his location, but what’s important is he giving an upright judgment. Ben Murray Bruce then finished his reaction by saying;
“And even where I, as a former legislator, opine strongly that only the Kano State Government and the judiciary should resolve this matter, if it leads to a breakdown of law and order, then the Federal Government, as guarantor of the peace and security of the Nigerian state, should immediately and authoritatively step in for the maintenance of the rule of law”.
