A member of the House of Representatives representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State, Hon. Wole Oke, has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of neglecting infrastructural development in his constituency.
Hon. Oke’s accusation comes as Governor Adeleke celebrates the second anniversary of his administration, during which he claimed to have fulfilled his election promises by executing various infrastructural projects across the state.
Oke, a fourth-term member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives, reportedly posted on his Facebook page, alleging that Governor Adeleke has not done enough for his constituency, which he described as lacking basic infrastructure.
In his post, the lawmaker asserted that the two local governments in the constituency have been entirely neglected.
However, political appointees from the constituency under Governor Adeleke’s administration have refuted Hon. Oke’s claims, describing them as misleading.
They insisted that the present administration has made significant progress in improving the lives of communities across the state.
“We, the commissioners from Ijesa North Federal Constituency, wish to address the recent claims made by Hon. Wole Oke regarding Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration and its impact on our constituency.
“It is imperative to set the record straight and highlight the substantial progress achieved under the leadership of Governor Adeleke.
As founding members and committed stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), we are deeply concerned about the misrepresentation of facts by Hon. Oke.
” It is disheartening and reprehensible to see a long-serving representative of our people spread misinformation that could potentially mislead our constituents,” the commissioners stated.
They went on to list achievements under Governor Adeleke’s administration in the Ijesa North Federal Constituency, which include:
Appointments; Three commissioners from Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency; Hon. Prince Bayo Ogungbangbe (Iloko Ijesha, Oriade LG); Otunba Tola Faseru (Ijebu Jesa, Oriade LG) and Hon. Mayowa Adejorin (Ikinyinwa, Obokun LG)
Three Special Advisers: Over ten Special Assistants; Two Board Chairmen and numerous board members in various government agencies and Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) chairmen as well as members from both local governments.
Infrastructure Development; Ongoing construction of 1.5 km of roads in each local government in Ijesa North, nearing completion.
“Full rehabilitation and renovation of 13 Primary Health Centres in Oriade and Obokun local governments, Construction of classrooms in over eight schools across the Constituency and installation of motorized deep wells in several schools.
The commissioners emphasised that these projects and appointments signify the Governor’s commitment to the development of the constituency.
Hon. Wole Oke, who has been serving in the House of Representatives since 2003, has faced criticism for what some perceive as his failure to adequately address the needs of his constituency during his long tenure.
