ONDO STATE PUBLIC SERVICE TRAINING INSTITUTE TRAINS 200 STUDENTS ON FREE ICT PROGRAMME

The Ondo State Public Service Training Institute, Ilara Mokin,Ondo State has began training for over two hundred students drawn from all the Secondary Schools in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State.
During the ongoing ICT training, the young secondary students are expected to be exposed to Technology Information by ICT experts drawn from Federal University of Technology, Akure .
Speaking during the opening ceremony,the Director-General of the Institute and Permanent Secretary Dr.Olumide Asere harped on the need for the young students to embrace Technology that will make them to excel in life in the nearest future.He added that the ICT programme will be organized for students in all the 18 LGAs of Ondo State soonest.
The onus of the ICT clinic for the young Students is to enable the youth imbibe the spirit of Technology adding that Nigeria is not making much progress in the world of technology today, because we have failed to impact into them, that essence of Technology as a driver of the Economy.
“So this programme is designed to keep the younger generation abreast of the development in the world of Technology and build capacity.So that as we proceed, Nigeria may begin to join the Committee of Technological developed Nations.
He stated that there is an urgent need to change the old strategy by taking Technology to the grassroots by building structure from among the children and the youth population with a view to allowing them build upon it,and continue to manifest to higher level of Science and Technology.
Dr.Olumide Asere averred that that programme is free of charge adding that some political elites including the Ifedore Local Government Chairman Hon.Ajibola Oladipupo,MHR Fessy West and others partnered in no small measures with the Institute to organize the free ICT training programme for the youth.
He admonished politicians and the opulents in the society to think towards Technological development of the young folks instead of distributing Motorcycles, Grinding Machines etc to the youth in their various communities. “Instead of acquiring more vehicles and houses that cannot last forever for themselves,they should invest in Technology “Dr.Olumide Asere posited.
He used the occasion to commend the Ondo State Governor, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his youth development programmes especially in the area of Tech.acquistion in the Sunshine State adding that in all sectors of Ondo State economy,the governor has succeeded beyond leaps and bounds.
Earlier,the Alara of Ilara-Mokin Oba Aderemi Adefehinti,the ALGON Chairman Dr.Donald Fasua,Hon Ajibola Oladipupo Ifedore Local Government Chairman,Hon Adegbonmire former Ifedore Local Government Chairman,Hon Fakologbon SLA to MHR representing Idanre Ifedore,lauded the Institute for organizing the ICT programme and urged the beneficiary students to make use of the rare opportunity to develop themselves Technologically.
