HIGH CHIEF SEGUN ADEDIPE CELEBRATES IJESU FESTIVAL, CONFERS CHIEFTAINCY TITLE OF ATOWASE ON EKUNNRIN

The Elemo of Akureland, Senior High Chief Segun Adedipe has celebrated this year’s annual New Yam Festival ” Odun Ijesu” in his palace at Ilemo in Akure, the Ondo State Capital, penultimate week.
Earlier, during the celebration,he has conferred Chieftaincy title of Atowase on Chief Kehinde Ekunnrin amongst others.
The occasion witnessed cultural display, payment of traditional homage by Ilemo Chiefs, pouring of libations to appease Oliki diety etc .
Speaking with the Journalists, Senior High Chief Segun Adedipe appreciated God for giving him the grace, to witness another new Yam Festival “Odun Ijesu”.
He was full of appreciation to the Deji of Akure Kingdom His Imperial Majesty Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi for coming personally to celebrate with him.
Elemo averred that, since his ascension to the throne of his forefathers,Ilemo Community has witnessed peace, progress and development.
He thanked the Elemo Dynasties Home and Diaspora for their unalloyed support since he ascended the throne.”They have all been of tremendous support, financially and spiritually”,Elemo stated.
Earlier,one of the prominent sons of the Elemo Dynasties who is also the Bobagunwa of Ilara-Mokin Chief/Dr/Engr. Adeleke Adedipe described the Elemo Chieftaincy stool as the Spokesman of the entire Akure and Third in command to the Deji of Akure Kingdom.
“The Elemo Chieftaincy title is one of the oldest, renowned and hallowed cheiftaincy title in Akureland,”he added.
He described this year Ijesu Festival of Senior High Chief Segun Adedipe as very unique adding that, the celebration of the “Odun Ijesu” has nothing diabolical.
He described the installation of Chief Kehinde Ekunnrin as the Atowase of Ilemo as a welcome development.
