CHIEF ASEWI OF GAGA, PRESIDENT OF THE COMMUNITY AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS KICK AGAINST DUMPING OF REFUSE ON WATER WAYS

The ASEWI of Gaga Community Chief Olu Omotoso,the President of Gaga Community Landlords Association and other
Stakeholders defiled the early morning downpour today,and moved out in large numbers to sensitize the residents of the community on the dangers that are inherent on indiscriminate dumping of refuse on Culverts, Waterways and other areas in the community,in order to prevent flooding and outbreak of diseases.
Going round the eight Zones of Gaga Olomoyiye, the President, Engr. Akinsiku urged the residents of the area to always maintain cleanliness from time to time.
“The Environmental Officers will as from 1st October 2025 move round the community with a view to arresting environmental offenders and prosecute them”,he pointed out.
He urged anyone indulging in any nefarious activities in the community to desist from such acts or relocate from the area, if they can’t have a change of heart.
In his words, already CCTV Cameras have been installed in some designated areas of the Community and advised armed robbers and harbingers of stealing to be warned, because the long arms of the law would soon catch up with them.
He admonished Landlords and Shop owners in the area, to pay the money for their CCTV Cameras, so that the CCTV Cameras can cover their areas.
He enjoined the residents not to misuse the insecticide nets due to be distributed to them by the Ondo State Government.
The nets are meant for prevention of malaria,fever and other related diseases caused by mosquitoes.It should not be used for fish farms, gardens, windows coverage nor window blinds .
The President of Olomoyiye Gaga Akure Engr.Akinsiku commended the Ondo State Government for providing the Community with asphalt overlay motorable road.
He lauded the Akure South Local Government Chairman Hon.Donald Fasua for all his achievements since he was sworn-in as the Council Chairman.
Earlier, Chief Olu Omotoso who is the Asewi of Gaga Akure, lampooned Land owners that abandoned their sites to be overgrown by weeds, pointing out that such sites can be incubating armed robbers as well as other criminal elements in the Community.
He enjoined those that are concerned,to redress the situation or forfeit such landed properties to the coffer of the Ondo State Government.
Also, Elder Bayo Ibikunle,Hon.Franklin and Engr Ajayi corrobated the messages of the President to the Community,by urging the residents to pay for their CCTV, clean their environments,desist from dumping refuse into water channels and be law abiding.
