STAY AWAY FROM IRESE LAND — OLURESE DECLARES INSTALLATION OF “OLU OF IPAMUSHARA” BY DEJI OF AKURE ILLEGAL, UNCONSTITUTIONAL

The Olurese of Irese Land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ahmed Destiny Saka, Ajila III, has issued a strong warning to agents and representatives of the Deji of Akure to stay away from Irese land, describing the proposed installation of Mr. Ayodele Ojo Fadero as the Olu of Ipamushara by the Deji of Akure as illegal, unconstitutional, and historically baseless.

Oba Saka made this declaration while addressing journalists at his palace in Irese Community on Saturday, January 10, 2026. He stated categorically that there has never been a traditional title known as “Olu of Ipamushara” in the history of Irese Community.

According to the monarch, Ipamushara is merely a location situated very close to his palace—“not more than four poles away”—and does not constitute an independent community with a distinct traditional ruler.

The Olurese expressed deep shock upon seeing an invitation card already circulating within Irese, announcing the installation of an Olu of Ipamushara by the Deji of Akure. He described the development as surprising and unacceptable, questioning how such an initiative could be conceived without regard for historical facts and administrative boundaries.

Oba Saka strongly opposed the installation of Mr. Ayodele Ojo Fadero by the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo, Odundun II, insisting that the move undermines the traditional authority and territorial integrity of Irese Land.

He further explained that Irese falls under Ifedore Local Government Area, not Akure South, making the action of the Deji of Akure a clear violation of administrative and constitutional boundaries.

The monarch disclosed that the Deji of Akure was reportedly unaware of the installation plans until after his Chief of Staff, Prince Tony Aladetoyinbo, confirmed that an application had been submitted and payment made by Mr. Fadero.

Oba Saka also lamented a series of misunderstandings and tensions that arose when some chiefs of the Deji allegedly attempted to inspect lands within Irese without proper consultation or consent from the Olurese or the rightful landowners.

Calling for peace and dialogue, the Olurese said he had formally notified and involved relevant authorities, including security agencies, the Ondo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and the Chairman of Ifedore Local Government, to intervene and prevent a breakdown of law and order.

He reaffirmed his sole and legitimate authority over Irese Land, rejecting any titles, claims, or rulership structures imposed on any part of his domain by external traditional authorities. He cautioned the Deji of Akure to beware of individuals allegedly using his name to incite unrest and confusion.

Meanwhile, a team of police officers from the office of the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State, visited the area. The Olurese personally conducted the police team on an inspection tour of the disputed location.

According to the report, the police are actively mediating the matter and have directed all concerned parties to make themselves available on Monday for further deliberations aimed at achieving a peaceful and lasting resolution.

In a strong assertion, the Olurese reiterated his firm stance that no authority other than his own has the right to create or impose any traditional title within Irese Land.
