Six persons sustain injuries as roof fell on OAU students in osun

Six students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife were reportedly injured following the sudden fall of the roof of class Amphitheater on Thursday.
Our correspondent gathered that the incident was caused by a whirlwind which destroyed some parts of the roof of the Amphitheatre during SER 001 class scheduled to hold from 8 am to 9 am.
One of the injured students is the general class representative of the course who was alleged to have been on the state of unconsciousness
An eyewitness who craved for anonymity described the incident as a scene of chaos and confusion as students scrambled to safety amidst the falling debris.
“The sudden collapse left at least six students injured, prompting emergency response efforts. Some students sustained minor injuries, while others were more seriously affected by the incident. Emergency medical personnel swiftly arrived at the scene to provide assistance and transport the injured to the hospital,” the student said.
It was learnt that the university officials have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the roof collapse and assess the structural integrity of other buildings on campus.
Meanwhile, classes in the affected area have been suspended until further notice to ensure the safety of students .
Confirming the incident the institution Public Relations Officer Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, stated that the Vice-Chancellor also followed two other students, whose cases demanded more medical attention to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), where the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Professor John Okeniyi, physically supervised the proceedings.
He said Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire led other principal officers to the Medical and Health Centre of the University, and ensured that the injured students were given adequate medical
