The Governor of Ondo State, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has declared that the government and people of Ondo State will give maximum support to the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

The Governor stated this on Friday when he received on a courtesy visit the state, local government and ward coordinators of a political group, The Lucky Guy, in Akure.

The group is mobilising grassroots support for President Tinubu’s re-election in Ondo State under the banner of AsiwajuDatiwa.

Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for enabling states to pursue developmental projects through increased fiscal capacity.

According to the Governor, the economic reforms of the President has led to increase in revenue coming to the states which makes it easier to embark on more developmental projects for the people, adding that states are no longer borrowing to finance projects or pay salaries.

Governor Aiyedatiwa added that under the Renewed Hope administration of the President, Ondo State has witneseed unprecedented federal presence and support, including infrastructural projects and appointments.

“We are happy with the increase in federal presence here in Ondo State since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed office. The support given to our State by the federal government in the last two years has been unprecedented.

“We have the dualisation of Ore-Ondo-Akure road, establishment of Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital, construction of Lagos/Calabar Coastal Highway passing through Ondo State, giving us an avaition institution and several political appointments for sons and daughters of Ondo State.

“With these and many more, we have no reason as a state not to give our utmost support to the re-election of Mr. President in 2027.

“You will recall that Ondo was among the states that give him the highest vote percentage in 2023 with 69percent of the total votes. This time around, in 2027, we are ready to do much more than that”, the Governor said.

Governor Aiyedatiwa commended the group for their innovation, dedication, and intellectual engagement in the state’s development journey. He charged the members to remain sincere, loyal, and truthful in their dealings, while working as ambassadors of progress in their respective communities.

“I am impressed with your passion and intellect. What you have started is not just about supporting a person, but about pushing for a better Ondo State. As you carry this message to the people, I urge you to do so with sincerity, loyalty, and truthfulness,” he said.

The Governor expressed confidence in the group’s potential to contribute meaningfully to governance through public sensitization, unity, and strategic support.

He, however, urged members of the group to mobilise more people to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), especially at the grassroots, ahead of the next general elections.

Earlier in his remarks, the Convener of “The Lucky Guy”, Hon. MoyinOlorun Ogunwumiju, noted that TLG was formed to promote the political leadership and ideals of Governor Aiyedatiwa.

He said: “We are ready to be your foot soldiers in all the 18 local governments. We are itching for more responsibility, in readiness to work for the upcoming “Asiwaju Datiwa 2027 project”.

Also speaking, the Director General, Mobilization, Hon. Muritala Suleiman, noted that TLG was coined from Governor Aiyedatiwa’s name to create a platform for the youths who are loyal to the Governor and are interested in politics, but struggle to find a platform politically to showcase what they can do to add value to the political events in the state.

He noted that during the last gubernatorial election, the group contributed its own quota to the success of the election, through door-to-door campaign in every local government, flooding the major towns of Ondo State with the Governor’s posters, billboards, and other election campaign materials.

He congratulated the Governor on his victory at the tribunal as well as his 100 days in office, urging the Governor to consider more youths in his appointments.

Those in attendance included the Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami and the Deputy Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ololade Gbegudu, among others.
