NEW NUJ PRESIDENT PROMISES TO IMPROVE ON WELFARE OF JOURNALISTS

The newly elected NUJ President, Comrade Alhasan Yahaya has promised to improve on welfare of Journalists in Nigeria.

Yahaya made this known shortly after he was elected as President of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) held during the 8th National Triennial Delegate Conference of the union which took place at the popular Sam Mbakwe Hall, Owerri, Imo State.

Announcing the results, chairman of the electoral committee, Mr. Mike Iheagwu, declared the following votes: Comrade Garba Mohammed received 39 votes, Comrade Dele Atunbi received 97 votes, and Comrade Alhasan Yahaya secured a landslide victory with 436 votes.

In his acceptance speech, the new NUJ president expressed gratitude to journalists nationwide for their support and pledged his commitment to the welfare of members.

Comrade Alhasan Yahaya promised to collaborate with stakeholders and uphold professionalism, emphasizing that “there is no victor, no vanquished.

The new president, who hails from Gombe State also honored the immediate past NUJ president Dr Chris Isiguzo by decorating him as a fellow of the NUJ National council.
